The Soundex

The National Archives and Records Administration hosts this surname soundex converter.  The soundex is a tool that formulates a "sound code" for surnames and this code is used to index large sets of records, such as the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Federal Censuses, and New York Passenger Lists, to name a few.

Death Date Calculator

Ben Buckner has programmed a site that will calculate birth date from death date and age. There is a Java and CGI version. One of them will work for you.
