Information from Obituary:
   "Ross E. WOODRUFF, age 53, died Tuesday night, August 19 at 8:40 p.m. at St. Anthony's hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
    Mr. WOODRUFF formerly lived in Hamden, but for the past several years he made his home in Columbus, Ohio.  He was employed at The Columbus Bolt Works.
    Mr. WOODRUFF was born in Gallia County.  His parents are Mr. John WOODRUFF and the late Nancy Faulk WOODRUFF of Vales Mill, Ohio.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Raidt WOODRUFF and four daughters, Mrs. Richard STEWART of Wellston, Virginia, Berta Mae, Anna Marie and Nancy all at home in Columbus. Four other children have preceded him in death.
    He is also survived by one grandchild Vicki Lynn STEWART of Wellston. Surviving also are three sisters and four brothers Mrs. Stella PERRY, Columbus, Mrs. Willis McMANUS, McArthur, Mrs. Norma SUTHERS, Wellston, Mr. Oscar WOODRUFF, Hamden, Alva WOODRUFF, Wilkesville, Mr. Clifford WOODRUFF, Marion and Claude WOODRUFF, of Columbus, Ohio.
    The body will lay in state at the Gaskill funeral home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Wellston, Ohio with the Rev. John O. LANG of the Cleveland Avenue Lutheran Church in Columbus, Ohio officiating.
    Burial will be at Zion cemetery under the direction of the Gaskill funeral service.
    Mr. WOODRUFF will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him."

    She is survived by three sons, Marion WOODRUFF of Woodville, Gary WOODRUFF and Amos LOWE of Hamden; three daughters, Freda Mae WOODRUFF of the home, Geraldine HAGAN of Wilkesville and Magnolia EBERTS of Hamden; a grandson, Michael WOODRUFF at home; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) PARRY of McARTHUR and Mrs. Charles (Laura) HOCTER of Radcliff; four brothers, Lawrence, Roy and Elmer, all of Woodville and Don of McArthur.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude H. in April of 1959, a sister and four brothers.
    Services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Radcliff E.U.B. Church with the Rev. A.B. MALOY officiating.  Burial was in Radcliff Cemetery with James E. BLOWER funeral home in charge."

Information from Obituary: LOLA CAMP WOODRUFF, age 87, died at her residence in Hamden on August 12, 1988. Born November 4, 1900 in Haydenville, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Silas and Jenny Felty Camp. Mrs. Woodruff was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Woodruff in 1977.  She was also preceded in death by one son, Fletcher; one daughter Beatrice Ann; three brothers, Norman, Ted and Charles Camp; two sisters Ethel Camp Davis and Pansy Camp; three grand-children and one great grandson.  Surviving are son Carroll and daughter-in-law Martha Woodruff; and two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Thelma) Zinn, Hamden; and Mrs. Ward (Lou) Bailey, Santee, California; two brothers Gilbert Camp, Coshocton; and Joe Camp, Florida; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Services were held at the James N. Blower Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Hauck officiating, interment was held in Hamden Cemetery.

    He had been under the care of a physician for some time, but his death came as a shock to his family in Hamdne.
    He was employed in Brooklyn in a factory manufacturing cans, and had been a resident of Brooklyn since leaving the service.
    He was born June 11, 1923, in Oreton, Ohio.
    He was a World War II veteran of the Navy, having served five years in the service.
    He was married in 1944, and his wife, Margaret, survives.
    In addition to his parents in Hamdne, he leaves six brothers and five sisters, as follows:  Mrs. Shirley WELLS, Columbus; James, Willis, McMANUS, Jr., and Jesse McMANUS of Hamden; David McMANUS in the Air Force in Arkansas; Mrs. Leona WRIGHT, Hilliards; Frank McMANUS, at home in Hamden; Earl McMANUS, Columbus; Mrs. Nancy AZBELL, Columbus, and Judy and Carolyn McMANUS, at home in Hamden.

    JUDY McMANUS, 17, HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR STUDENT, IS DEAD; SIX OTHERS INJURED
    Car Leaves Route 160, and Crashes Into Pole; Is Second Death in McManus Family.
    One Hamden girl is dead and three more are hospitalized with injuries following an accident on Rt. 160 five miles east of Hamden at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
    Judy McMANUS, 17, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Willis McMANUS of Hamden was dead on arrival at the Wellston Medical Clinic of a broken neck.  Injured and in Holzer hospital are Glenna HARPER, 16; Alice SALMONS, 16; and Juanita STEWART, 16.
    The girls were passengers in a car driven east by Anna Jane BUSKIRK, 16, along with Connie SORRELLS, 16 and Linda HUTCHINSON, 16, all members of the Hamden high school junior class play 'Always Tell the Truth' and were going to solicit advertising for the school play program.  They were enroute to pick up Karen FAIN when the BUSKIRK car, a new Ford, went out of control on the hilly road, hit a mailbox and overturned several times into a cornfield on the south side of Rt. 160 between Puritan and Radcliff.
    The car was owned by Floyd (Pete) BUSKIRK of Hamden.  Miss STEWART suffered internal injuries; Miss SALMONS a broken left leg and broken ribs, and Miss HARPER a broken right leg and a broken right forearm.  The other occupants suffered cuts and bruises, and were taken to Gallipolis in the Gaskill and Rogers ambulances.
    Miss HARPER is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton HARPER, Miss HUTCHINSON the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne HUTCHINSON; Miss SORRELLS the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman SORRELLS; Mrs. STEWART the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell STEWART; and Miss SALMONS the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. SALMONS, all of Hamden or Hamden Rt. 1.
    The death of Miss McMANUS was the second tragedy to the children of Rev. and Mrs. McMANUS, a brother, Paul Edward McMANUS, 36, their oldest son died suddenly on January 8 in Brooklyn, New York, of a heart attack and his parents have been grief-stricken since the tragedy.
    Judy Diane McMANUS was a native of McArthur, having been born there January 2, 1943, a daughter of Rev. Willis and Clara WOODRUFF McMANUS.
    In addition to her parents, Judy is survived by six brothers and four sisters:  Mrs. Shirley WELLS, Columbus; Mrs. Leona WRIGHT, Hilliards, O.; Mrs. Nancy AZBELL, Columbus; and Carolyn, at home; James, Willis Jr., Frank and Jesse of Hamden; David, in the Air force in Arkansas and Earl McMANUS, Columbus.
    The tragic death of Miss McMANUS was the first Vinton county highway fatality in 1960, and the accident which resulted in her death and injury to her schoolmates caused widespread mourning in both Hamden and Wellston communities.
    Funeral services for Judy were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hamden EUB church.  Rev. A. B. MALOY, former pastor of the church, officiated with burial in Elk Cemetery, in charge of the Wrightsel Funeral Company of McArthur. . . ."

   "Alva F. WOODRUFF, son of John and Nancy FULK WOODRUFF, was born 30 Jun 1913 in Vinton Township, Vinton County.  His brothers were Ross, Claude, Oscar, and Clifford.  His sisters were Stella, Goldie, Norma, and Clara.  The family names were listed in Vinton Township in the 1920 census.
    Alva's mother had cancer and died when Alva was young.  He went to live with his brother Ross and his wife Mamie.  Alva attended school in Vinton Township and graduated from Vinton Township High School in the class of 1931 or 1932.
    After graduating from high school Alva enlisted in the CCC corp.  He was sent to Montana and served his enlistment there.  This was during the depression years.
    Alva returned home after his term in Montana and began working for A. E. FITZPATRICK and son on their orchard and farm.  It was at the FITZPATRICK home that Alva met Helen MONTGOMERY.  Helen was employed at the FITZPATRICK home doing housework.
    Helen I. MONTGOMERY, daughter of Charles and Debbie WRIGHT MONTGOMERY, was born in Wilkesvilled, Ohio, on 16 Nov 1914.  Helen attended school at Wilklesville, Old Salem, and Wilkesville, High School, graduating in the class of 1931.
    Alva and Helen were married in 1936.  Francis, their first son, was born in 1937, their second son Jack was born in 1939.
    Alva continued to work at the orchard until 1953 when he and Helen purchased a house in Wilkesville.  Alva began work at the Crown Pipe and Foundry and remained there until it ceased operations in September of 1956.  He was then employed at the McArthur Brick Company.  After this company ceased operations, he was employed by the school district as a janitor at the high school.  He remained there until he retired.
    Helen was suddenly stricken with a tumor on the brain and cancer of the lungs.  Helen passed away on 24 May 1967.  She was buried in the Vinton Cemetery at Vinton, Ohio.
    Alva WOODRUFF passed away on 16 Feb 1983, and was also buried in the Vinton Cemetery.  Submitted by Claude MONTGOMERY."

Hello Natalie Cottrill, I am looking for relatives by with the last name of SWAIM. My g.grandmother's name was ELIZA WOODRUFF she was married to CHARLES SMITH. Charles' parents were ALBERT WOODRUFF and ADALINE SWAIM (I have their family bible, it was given to me by my grandmother LESSIE (SMITH) BROWN, Eliza was her mother. According to the bible records, Albert and Adaline were married Dec. 18, 1866 at the home of the bride in Scioto County.The ceremony was performed by Frederick Winters J.P. and witnessed by L.(C?). Swaim and Permelia Woodruff. Recorded are 12 childrens names, they are: Rossette, Laura E., John F., Miles N., Eliza E., Ross, Albert J., Sheriden E., David, Frank E., Myrta (Mea?) and McKelvey. Do you know if you are related to this family of Swaim's? If you are I sure would like to exchange information with you.
