Photo Scan and Restoration
I have a UMAX S-12 color scanner with up to 9600 dpi quality that produces great photo scans. The scan can be placed onto any media in
several formats.
And, with photo editing software, I can do minor to moderate photo restoration to repair most usual damage to your old
photos.
- Photo Quality on CD - In Kodak photo CD format on CD and snail-mailed
back to you with your originals.
- Photo for the Web (JPEG or GIF) - Scan and save the photo in
high-quality JPEG format (non-transparent) for use on the internet or GIF format
(transparent or non-transparent - you specify). Send the items you want scanned, photos,
logos, artwork, etc. (maximum size 8"x11") and I'll scan them and place them on
my web site for you to pick up (just right click mouse button and select "save
picture as"). All images are scanned at 72 dpi and stored in either GIF or JPG
format. Older photos may be scanned at a higher resolution.

With the type of scanner and software at my disposal, I can do minor to moderate
digital photo restoration. Scratches, tears, handwriting and mold or other blotches can be
removed. Photos can be sharpened and colors or contrast can be enhanced.
Fees
I've done many digital enhancements and restoration of family photos for publication in
hardcover and web media. You may know from experience that digital photo restoration work
is fairly skill intensive and really requires a bit artistic flair. I've been an amateur
artist since high school and I quite enjoy this creative outlet. I will work up to two (2)
hours on a photo restoration for $30.00, plus 4.00 for a CD-rom and postage.
I'll put some before and after examples up on the net soon.
